START
WITH FREEDOM AND CHOICE
Who is responsible for the quality of your life?
Who determines whether your life will have been one
lived in joy or misery? Who
has the power to grab hold of an attitude and change it?
You.
From
the first moment you blink awake in the morning, you can
choose to have happiness, satisfaction and peace in your day.
Let your first thought of the day be filled with an
awareness of your personal freedom.
You always have the ability to choose how you will
feel; therefore you are always fundamentally free.
You have total freedom to be joyful, happy, and even
ecstatic!
You
also have freedom of action, even if that means consciously choosing
to do willingly that which you are obligated to do. When you wake up, ask yourself what you could do with your
day to bring you joy and happiness.
Think about something you really love to do and decide
to put some aspect of that activity in your day.
If you awaken with a thought in your mind of something
you'd like to do, that's your inner self-guiding you.
Follow your feeling and find time for it.
Adopt
the attitude that you will choose to do whatever you
do. If we fail to
make this conscious turn of attitude, we often feel victimized
or enslaved. Those feelings cause resentment, anger, depression, ill
health, and certainly, unhappiness.
It's our choice. What
kind of feelings to you want to permeate throughout your life?
When
we make a conscious decision to choose to do what we do, we
accomplish the task easily, swiftly and with energy to spare.
Be aware that you are, indeed, choosing what you do, if
only because the consequence of an alternative choice is one
you don't want. You'll
be much happier every day if you become consciously aware that
you are making a choice and, therefore, are in charge of your
life.
Throughout
the day, stay in touch with your feelings.
Monitor your resistance.
Resistance and resentment can sneak up on us. If we face the fact that we've slipped back into those
feelings, we reduce the tension.
Then, we can once again consciously choose not to ruin
our own day. Continue
to ask yourself what you choose to do next.
When you recognize that you do, indeed, have freedom of
choice, often you may find that your choice is to do the task
that next needs doing. Approach
anything with willingness, and your energy will flow without
tension.
