TAKE
CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE
Think
of yourself as a "Co-Creator" with Life, an actor
on the stage of life, rather than a re-actor. You tell Life what you want by thinking, speaking and
imagining with feeling. It's
as simple as that. Probably
ninety percent of the difficult situations in our lives have
been drawn to us because we focused on negative imaginings and
feelings intensely, repeatedly, or for long periods of time.
For example, self-pity tends to prolong the resolution
of situations because in that state of mind, one tends to
review and re-review how "awful" it is, without
taking positive action and without feeling an uplifting sense
of hope.
Our
habitual state of mind tends to draw to us events and
situations that reflect our state of mind.
In other words, we are mentally "praying" for
whatever is in our emotions and mental pictures.
Most
people don't send singular, laser-precise messages. Their minds are constantly scattered, jumping from one thing
to the next. They
don't think about what they really want, because they're too
busy reacting to current situations.
One minute, your mind might be focused on a project,
thinking nothing in particular about the future.
The few minutes after completing the project might be
spent experiencing a sense of well-being and a feeling of
security about the future.
Then you may unearth a forgotten bill on your desk, and
your sense of security may be obliterated by a dense fog of
depression.
Reacting
to every event that happens to us in a day is like dangling
from a puppeteer's string or riding a roller coaster for hours
on end. You get whiplash. You
get tired. You
also become so distracted that you forget to create, plan and
map out your life.
When
we take time to become calm and centered, we can set about to
create our lives, defining and imagining the future we want.
As you carefully define your future, you get clear
about what you desire. You
resolve to minimize fears, doubts and conflicting desires.
At that point, you begin to send out clear messages, in
mental pictures and emotions, defining your desired future.
Life, or the creative forces of the universe, then work
with you to produce those images in your reality.
This is called manifesting.
Manifesting
is bringing into reality your focused thoughts. We do it on smaller scales all the time, as our thoughts,
attitudes and imaginings produce our emotions and reactions in
others. We can
learn to manifest progressively larger desires and dreams as
events and even objects through understanding and using a
specific process.
This
process has many variations that are effective. This Course will present one version that has been proven to
be highly effective. One
must constantly guard against dogmatism in all of its forms.
If other techniques that you have learned previously or
will learn in the future are different from the technique
outlined below, simply experiment to discover which process is
better for you. However,
the basic elements will rarely vary. Variation arises in using the techniques, and refining and
tailoring them for yourself.
